Description
This exquisite 1:500 scale die-cast model represents a TransBrasil Boeing 727-100 in the airline's striking "Energia Colorida" (Colorful Energy) livery. Manufactured by Herpa, a renowned German producer of high-quality miniature aircraft, this model features the distinctive orange fuselage with teal blue wings and tail surfaces, adorned with TransBrasil's iconic sunburst logo. The precision molding captures the characteristic tri-jet configuration and T-tail design that made the 727 instantly recognizable. This limited edition model (PT-TYU) is presented in its original packaging and represents an important piece of Brazilian aviation history.
The Boeing 727-100 was a revolutionary medium-range, narrow-body trijet airliner that first entered service in 1964. With a length of approximately 40.59 meters (133 feet 2 inches), a wingspan of 32.92 meters (108 feet), and a height of 10.36 meters (34 feet), the 727-100 became one of Boeing's most successful aircraft programs. Its three Pratt & Whitney JT8D engines mounted at the rear fuselage allowed for a clean wing design and excellent short-field performance, making it ideal for operations at airports with challenging conditions. The 727 could accommodate up to 149 passengers and served as the backbone of many airlines' fleets throughout the 1970s and 1980s.
