Description
This exceptional Schabak 1:600 scale three-piece aircraft set captures SAS Scandinavian Airlines' fleet diversity from the 1980s-90s era. Each model features the airline's iconic livery with distinctive red, yellow, and blue stripes on a pristine white fuselage, crowned with the classic SAS tail logo. The set includes a Boeing 747-B jumbo jet, a Douglas DC10-30 tri-jet, and a Douglas MD-80 twinjet, representing the backbone of SAS's long-haul and medium-range operations. These die-cast models showcase fine detailing including accurate engine configurations, landing gear, and precise fuselage proportions. Made in Germany by Schabak Modell, this collector's set (No. 911/6) represents high-quality craftsmanship typical of European die-cast aviation manufacturers.
The Boeing 747-B was SAS's flagship aircraft for intercontinental routes, capable of carrying 342 passengers with a maximum take-off weight of 351.5 tonnes and cruising at 890 kph over ranges up to 10,000 km. The Douglas DC10-30 served as a versatile wide-body tri-jet, accommodating 229 passengers with its distinctive third engine mounted in the tail. The Douglas MD-80, with 133 seats, provided efficient medium-haul service across European and Scandinavian routes. At 1:600 scale, these models measure approximately 11.7 cm (747-B), 9.2 cm (DC10-30), and 7.5 cm (MD-80) in length, making them ideal for display in compact collections while maintaining exceptional detail.
