The Boeing 727-100 was a tri-jet narrow-body airliner that revolutionized short to medium-haul air travel when introduced in 1963. With its distinctive T-tail configuration and three rear-mounted Pratt & Whitney JT8D engines, the 727 could operate from shorter runways while maintaining excellent performance. The aircraft featured a length of 133 feet 2 inches, wingspan of 108 feet, and height of 34 feet. It had a cruising speed of 595 mph and range of 2,000 miles, with typical seating for 94 passengers in mixed class configuration or up to 114 in high-density layout. The 727 became one of the most successful commercial aircraft ever built, with the -100 variant serving as the foundation for Pan Am's domestic and regional international routes.
