Description
This exquisite 1:500 scale die-cast model represents the legendary Pan American Boeing 377 Stratocruiser in its classic livery. Manufactured by Herpa under official Boeing license (article number 506762), this miniature aircraft captures the distinctive features of the iconic post-war airliner with remarkable precision. The model showcases Pan Am's traditional white and blue color scheme, complete with the airline's famous globe logo on the tail. The four propeller engines, the characteristic double-deck fuselage, and the elegant lines of this 1940s-50s era aircraft are beautifully reproduced in metal, making this a true collector's piece for aviation enthusiasts.
The Boeing 377 Stratocruiser was a long-range airliner developed from the C-97 Stratofreighter military transport, which itself was derived from the B-29 Superfortress bomber. Introduced in 1947, it represented the height of luxury air travel in the post-war era. The real aircraft measured 33.63 meters in length with a wingspan of 43.05 meters and stood 11.66 meters tall. Powered by four Pratt & Whitney R-4360 radial engines, the Stratocruiser featured a pressurized double-deck fuselage with a lower-deck lounge accessible by spiral staircase. Pan American was the launch customer and largest operator of the type, using it primarily on prestigious transatlantic and transpacific routes during the golden age of propeller-driven airliners.
