With a wingspan of 50.09 m (164 ft 4 in), length of 50.05 m (164 ft 2 in), and height of 16.87 m (55 ft 4 in), the TriStar 500 was designed for extended-range operations. The TriStar 500's distinctive feature was its third Rolls-Royce RB211 engine mounted in the tail through an S-duct configuration, making it instantly recognizable among trijet aircraft.
