Description

This exceptional 1:500 scale Herpa miniature model (article number 504911) represents a Pan Am Lockheed L-1011 TriStar 500 in the airline's classic livery. Limited Club Edition from 2005 with only 1500 pieces produced, this collector's item features the iconic Pan Am globe logo on the tail, detailed fuselage with accurate window configuration, and the distinctive blue cheatline running along the white fuselage. The model showcases remarkable attention to detail including accurate landing gear, engine nacelles, and the TriStar's characteristic third engine mounted in the tail. Photography copyright by Gerhard Plomitzer captures the real aircraft that inspired this model.

The Lockheed L-1011 TriStar 500 was a long-range variant of the widebody trijet airliner, featuring a shortened fuselage and increased fuel capacity compared to the standard TriStar. With a wingspan of 50.09 m (164 ft 4 in), length of 50.05 m (164 ft 2 in), and height of 16.87 m (55 ft 4 in), the TriStar 500 was designed for extended-range operations. Pan Am operated these aircraft on long-haul international routes, taking advantage of the type's reliability and passenger comfort. The TriStar 500's distinctive feature was its third Rolls-Royce RB211 engine mounted in the tail through an S-duct configuration, making it instantly recognizable among trijet aircraft.
