This precision replica captures the unique configuration of this humanitarian aircraft, including accurate engine nacelles, landing gear, and the signature three-engine layout of the DC-10. The model comes with a display stand and is crafted with Herpa's renowned attention to detail.

The McDonnell Douglas DC-10-10ER Flying Eye Hospital, registration N220AU, served as a mobile teaching hospital dedicated to fighting blindness worldwide. This extended range variant of the DC-10-10 was specifically modified to carry medical equipment, operating rooms, and training facilities. Powered by three General Electric CF6-6D1A engines, the aircraft carried a mission crew of 4 doctors, 6 nurses, 2 anesthesiologists, 2 biomedical engineers, 2 audiovisual specialists, and 4 staff administrators. The cargo bay was equipped with 3 ground power generators, 2 air conditioners, and hospital air compressors installed in modified LD-3 containers, with volunteer pilots from United Airlines and 2 flight mechanics sponsored by United Airlines operating this remarkable humanitarian aircraft.
