Description
This Schabak 1:600 scale die-cast model set represents Martinair Holland's fleet, featuring multiple aircraft types including the Douglas DC-10, DC-8, Boeing 747, and DC-9. The models showcase Martinair's classic white livery with distinctive red cheatlines and tail design. Each aircraft is precisely detailed with accurate window patterns, engine configurations, and landing gear. The set comes in its original display box with illustrated aircraft profiles, making it a valuable collector's piece from the golden age of die-cast aviation models.
Martinair operated a diverse fleet of wide-body and narrow-body aircraft throughout its history, serving both passenger and cargo markets. The DC-10 was a three-engine wide-body jet with a length of approximately 55.5 m (182 ft), wingspan of 50.4 m (165 ft), and height of 17.7 m (58 ft). The Boeing 747 'Jumbo Jet' measured about 70.7 m (232 ft) in length with a 59.6 m (196 ft) wingspan. The DC-8 stretched approximately 57 m (187 ft) long, while the DC-9 was a shorter twin-engine aircraft at around 31.8 m (104 ft). At 1:600 scale, these models measure between 5-12 cm in length, perfectly capturing the proportions of their real-world counterparts.
