Rendered in 1:600 scale, this meticulously crafted miniature features the distinctive triple-tail configuration, four propeller engines, and elegant silver fuselage with navy blue and gold accents characteristic of Lufthansa's golden age fleet. The model showcases exceptional attention to detail including window lines, airline titling, and the famous crane logo on the tail. This collectible represents a significant piece of aviation history, commemorating one of the most elegant airliners ever built.
The Lockheed L-1049 Super Constellation, affectionately known as the 'Super Connie,' was a four-engine propeller-driven aircraft that revolutionized long-distance air travel in the 1950s. With its distinctive dolphin-shaped fuselage and triple tail design, the Super Constellation became an icon of the propeller age. The real aircraft measured approximately 35.4 meters in length with a wingspan of 37.6 meters. Powered by four Wright R-3350 Duplex-Cyclone engines, it could carry up to 95 passengers on intercontinental routes. Lufthansa operated these magnificent aircraft during the airline's post-war reconstruction period, using them on prestigious transatlantic and European routes.
