Description

This exquisite Herpa Wings Club Edition die-cast model represents a Lufthansa Boeing 707-330 B registered as D-ABUD and named "Köln" (Cologne). Part of an exclusive limited edition series from 1999, this 1:500 scale model showcases Lufthansa's classic retro livery featuring the iconic yellow lower fuselage, deep blue cheatline with window dots, and the famous crane logo on the tail. The model exhibits exceptional attention to detail with accurately molded engine nacelles, landing gear, and aerials. As noted on the packaging, the antenna on the vertical stabilizer is intentionally thin for authenticity and requires careful handling.

The Boeing 707-330 B was an intercontinental variant of Boeing's groundbreaking first jetliner, which revolutionized commercial aviation in the late 1950s and 1960s. Powered by four Pratt & Whitney JT3D turbofan engines, the 707-330 series was specifically designed for international routes with increased fuel capacity and range. The real aircraft measures 46.60 m in length with a wingspan of 44.42 m and a height of 12.90 m. Lufthansa operated numerous 707s during the jet age, with aircraft like "Köln" serving as flagships on prestigious transatlantic and intercontinental routes, helping establish Germany's aviation presence in the post-war era.
