Description
This exquisite 1:500 scale die-cast model represents an Iraqi Airways Boeing 737-200, registration YI-APW. Manufactured by Herpa Wings as part of their exclusive WingsClub series, this is a limited edition piece with only 750 produced worldwide. The model faithfully reproduces the airline's distinctive green and white livery, featuring Arabic script and the iconic Iraqi Airways logo on the tail. Crafted with remarkable attention to detail, this officially licensed Boeing product showcases the precision molding and paint application that Herpa is renowned for among aviation collectors. The Boeing 737-200 was the second generation of the world's best-selling jet airliner family. First introduced in 1968, this variant featured a stretched fuselage compared to the original 737-100 and could accommodate between 115-130 passengers depending on configuration. The aircraft measures 30.5 m (100 ft) in length with a wingspan of 28.35 m (93 ft), making it an ideal short to medium-range workhorse for airlines worldwide. Iraqi Airways operated several 737-200s during the 1970s and 1980s as part of their fleet modernization program.
🇮🇶 About the Airline
Iraqi Airways is the national carrier of Iraq, founded in 1945. Operating from Baghdad International Airport, the airline has faced numerous challenges throughout its history, including periods of international sanctions and operational restrictions. Despite these difficulties, Iraqi Airways remains a symbol of Iraqi civil aviation and continues to serve domestic and international routes. Models from their vintage fleet, particularly from the 1970s-80s era, are highly sought after by collectors due to their historical significance and limited availability.
