The Boeing 747SP (Special Performance) was a unique variant of the iconic 747, featuring a shortened fuselage that made it 48 feet shorter than the standard 747-100. Developed in the 1970s, this aircraft was designed for ultra-long-range flights with reduced passenger capacity, allowing airlines to connect distant city pairs that were previously unreachable with non-stop service. The 747SP featured the same wingspan as its larger siblings at 59.64 meters (195 ft 8 in), a length of 56.31 meters (184 ft 9 in), and a height of 19.94 meters (65 ft 5 in). Only 45 examples were built between 1973 and 1989, making it one of the rarest 747 variants and highly sought after by aviation enthusiasts and collectors.
