About the aircraft
The Lockheed C-130 Hercules is one of the most famous military transport aircraft ever built. Introduced in the 1950s, the Hercules became legendary for its robustness and ability to operate from short and rough airstrips.
Belgium operated a fleet of C-130H Hercules aircraft within the 15th Air Transport Wing based at Melsbroek. These aircraft served for decades in humanitarian, military and NATO operations worldwide.
The spectacular Sioux-themed nose art seen on this model commemorates the 20th Squadron anniversary. The Sioux chief emblem is historically linked to the Belgian 15th Wing insignia. (fr.wikipedia.org)
