Description
This exquisite 1:400 scale die-cast model represents an Air France Douglas DC-4, registration F-BELX, in the classic polished metal livery of the 1950s era. Produced by AeroClassics under their EuroClassics line, this collectible features the distinctive bare metal finish with elegant Air France titling and French flag insignia. The model showcases four meticulously detailed Pratt & Whitney R-2000 radial engines with rotating propellers, authentic landing gear, and the characteristic tall vertical stabilizer of the DC-4. The attention to detail includes accurate window placement, panel lines, and the classic streamlined fuselage shape that made the DC-4 an icon of post-war aviation.
The Douglas DC-4 was a four-engine propeller-driven airliner developed during World War II and became one of the most important aircraft in establishing reliable transatlantic service in the late 1940s and 1950s. With a length of 28.6 m (93 ft 10 in), wingspan of 35.8 m (117 ft 6 in), and height of 8.4 m (27 ft 7 in), the DC-4 could carry up to 44 passengers on long-range routes. Air France operated numerous DC-4s on European and intercontinental services during the immediate post-war period, helping rebuild civil aviation after 1945. This model at 1:400 scale measures approximately 7.2 cm in length with a wingspan of about 9 cm.
