Description

This exquisite 1:500 scale die-cast model represents the Boeing 727-100 in its original Boeing company house colors. Manufactured by Herpa as part of their prestigious Boeing Milestone Series, this model commemorates the historic first flight of the 727 on February 9, 1963. The model features the distinctive trijet configuration with cream and brown livery, complete with 'BOEING 727' markings along the fuselage. Fine details include accurately molded landing gear, engine nacelles, and the characteristic T-tail design that made the 727 instantly recognizable.

The Boeing 727-100 was a revolutionary short- to medium-range narrow-body airliner that became Boeing's first trijet design. With its three Pratt & Whitney JT8D engines mounted at the rear of the fuselage, the 727 was specifically designed to operate from smaller airports with shorter runways. The aircraft could accommodate 131 passengers and was notable for being the first Boeing commercial jetliner to use an auxiliary power unit (APU). Between 1962 and 1984, Boeing built 1,832 727s in all versions, making it one of the best-selling jetliners of its era. The 727's versatility allowed it to serve as a passenger transport, freighter, or 'quick change' convertible aircraft.
