Cross & Cockade, known today as Cross & Cockade International, is a historical magazine about aviation during the First World War. The name refers to the black cross and coloured roundel symbols used respectively on German and British aircraft. The magazine was first published in 1960. Cross & Cockade International ( C.C.I. ) is the First World War Aviation Historical Society. They have over 1,000 members in more than 25 countries all over the world.
The Company is registered U.K. charity number 1117741. All trustees, officers of the society and contributors to the journal give their services voluntarily. They research and publish information on all aspects of the First World War in the air, since 1914 until 1918. They are best known for this high quality journal, produced quarterly, which contains articles written by the members. Cross & Cockade G.B. was formed in 1970 as the British arm of Cross & Cockade in the U.S.A., which was formed in 1960. They changed their name to Cross & Cockade International when the U.S. society folded in 1986. On January 31st, 2007, they became a registered charity.
