Lancasters of No. 57 Squadron follow the Pathfinders in to release their bomb loads. For night missions the Pathfinders proceed to the target first, dropping colour-coded markers (green in this case) to pinpoint the objective.

A Sunderland of No. 210 Squadron undergoes engine maintenance while at its moorings.

Spitfires No. 127 Wing led by wing Commander Johnny Johnson strafe an enemy airfield during a sweep over Northern France.

Ground crews from No. 99 Squadron prepare Vickers Wellington bombers for a night operation in the winter of 1940.
