Description
VOLUME TWO : Covering manufacturers Edgar Percival to Zlin)
The first volume of A. J. Jackson's British Civil Aircraft was greeted as an 'absolutely fascinating book', covering with impeccable accuracy, and with an unprecedented richness of illustration, the craft that have borne the first forty years of British civil aviation. Now to complete the work comes Vol. 2, which though it covers manufacturers from E to Z, is of the same scale and comprehensiveness as Vol. 1 (A-D).
The aircraft, not necessarily of British design, range from ultra-light single-seaters to heavy transport and are discussed alphabetically by manufacturers and thence in strict order of designation. This volume includes over 550 photographs, many unique and previously unpublished.
The main body of the work, dealing with seventy-eight important types, includes description, development and operational histories and three-view drawings, together with specifications and photographs of all variants. Appendices, similarly arranged, illustrate and describe 238 civil types built only in prototype form or in small numbers, and eighty-seven military types adapted to civilian use on a small scale or flown under civil marks for demonstration or delivery.
A final appendix gives the most complete documentation yet published on individual aircraft registrations, names, dates of issue of C. of A. and disposal.
