Description
Uniform with F. K. Mason's Hawker Aircraft since 1920 and A. J. Jackson's De Havilland Aircraft since 1915, this book is third in a series of volumes which will record the whole output of the great British aircraft manufacturers. It provides a complete reference to all Bristol military, civil and experimental aircraft from the Bristol-Zodiac biplane of 1910 until the formation of the British Aircraft Corporation fifty years later. It includes a synoptic history of the Company's early growth and later expansion.
The design features, construction and operational use of some one hundred principal Bristol types are given in considerable detail, with specifications of all variants built and three-view drawings; all available data and many three-view drawings are also included of over seventy unbuilt projects. Appendices list constructor's numbers for every Bristol aircraft built from 1910 to June 1960, with destinations and customers; there are also notes on the personnel who have made major contributions to the Company's progress.
This book is written with the full co-operation of the Directors of the Bristol Aeroplane Company and is the outcome of thirty years' study of aviation history, including access to the Company's archives and also reminiscences by long-service colleagues of the author, who is now the Company's technical librarian.
