Description

Uniform with the same author's Handley Page Aircraft since 1907 and Shorts Aircraft since 1900, the revised edition of this book provides a complete reference to all Bristol military, civil and experimental aircraft from the Anglo-French Bristol-Zodiac biplane of 1910 until the emergence sixty years later of the Anglo-French Concorde.

It includes a synoptic history of the Company's early growth and subsequent expansion to become the Filton Division of the British Aircraft Corporation.

The design features, construction and operational use of over one hundred principal Bristol types are given in considerable detail, with specifications of all variants built and over fifty three-view drawings; all available data and representative drawings are also included of more than eighty unbuilt projects.

Appendices list constructor's number for all aircraft built by Bristol from 1910 to 1970, with destinations and customers, also the many aircraft of Bristol design built by other firms, both at home and abroad.

This book was written with the full co- operation of the Directors of the Bristol Aeroplane Company and is the outcome of forty years' study of aviation history from within the industry, including twenty years' access to the Company's technical archives.

The second edition contained additional photographs and included projects not previously released for publication, and this third edition incorporates further updating, particularly in respect of Bristol aircraft which continued in service after the publication of the second edition in 1970.
