Description

This vintage poster advertises the Brussels Aviation Meeting held from July 23 to August 4, 1910, one of the earliest aviation events in Belgium. The illustration shows a dramatic view of an early biplane aircraft flying over the Brussels cityscape, with other flying machines visible in the golden sky including what appears to be a dirigible and another airplane.

The event was organized by L'Aéro-Club de Belgique at the Champ de Courses de Stockel, held under the high patronage of His Majesty the King and with the cooperation of the Association of the Brussels Press. The poster captures the wonder and excitement of early aviation during a pioneering era when flight was still a remarkable spectacle.

The artwork features a beautiful color palette with a golden sunset sky transitioning to blue, and the red-tiled roofs of Brussels below, creating a nostalgic and romantic vision of early 20th-century aviation. The lithograph was produced by O. de Rycker & Mendel in Brussels.
