Description
When winter is at its harshest it can often seem that memories of vintage aeroplanes puttering through the skies at Old Warden, or of classic jets roaring into the blue at Kemble, are mere figments of our imagination. The arrival of the airshow 'season' is something that nearly all aviation enthusiasts look forward to, regardless of our particular interest or passion. Not only does it bring the promise of longer days and higher temperatures, but it means we can indulge our hobby in the way we'd like to all year round if we could.
In our annual airshow supplement, we bring you as comprehensive a list of forthcoming attractions, both at home and overseas, as we can muster. Our national round-up of aviation museums is also included.
It's worth bearing in mind that at the time FlyPast closes for press many of the listed shows are still in the preliminary stages of planning. That's why it's always a good idea to check and double check nearer the time that an event is taking place, and of course, to get more details of the all important participation list. It's likely that some dates - particularly for the smaller shows - may get moved, and there's always the odd cancellation to contend with. So, if you're planning your airshow year with as much gusto as we are, don't start packing your thermos, lunchbox and camera until you're sure you know what's happening.
