Description

A Complete Guide To The RAF's Classic Ground-Attack Fighter

The author would like to thank the Engineering and Information Services at the RAF Museum, Hendon and Nick Brown of Model Design Construction for their assistance and to Steve A. Evans and John Wilson for their support.

Special Thanks
I cannot complete this book without mention of the late Russ Snadden. I had the pleasure of working with him at the RAF Museum Reserve Collection & Restoration Centre in the 1990s. Russ was a skilled ex-RAF engineer with many years' experience as a dedicated aircraft restorer, having been a founder member of Russ Snadden's 'Black 6' Bf 109 restoration team.

Sadly, Russ is no longer with us, as he succumbed to cancer, but his workmanship and attention to detail were an inspiration, and I learnt a lot about the Typhoon and Tempest NV778 from him whilst he restored Tempest II. Certain people leave an indelible mark on your life and for me he is one of them.

So, the next time you are at Hendon and you look at the Tempest TT.5 NV778, just spare a thought for him - aircraft of the past would be nothing more than distant memories - Richard A. Franks
