Description

This book starts with the early exploits of Willy Messerschmitt leading up to the formation of his Company. His association with Rudolph Hess and the influence of the Nazi Party are a prelude to his technical achievements leading to the 109. Action commences before the 1939-1945 War with the Bf 109s appearance in the Spanish Civil War and while it culminates in the Battle of Britain there is much to follow. The use of this fighter in the African, Russian, Greek, and Yugoslav campaigns with accounts of certain of the aces in these theatres; use by the Axis Allies including Hungary, Bulgaria, and Finland and post-war use in Czechoslovakia and Spain. Experimental and even projected designs are among the many facets covered by copious photographs, including feature pages of Messerschmitt aces. Twenty-three full-page 1/72 scale 3-view tone paintings accurate and artistically finished are in this book, cross-section drawings and, above all, eight pages of full-colour overall marking schemes and insignia are included in this superb production.
