Description

The Space Shuttle is a new breed of manned spacecraft. No other has ever been like it - a reusable space plane capable of going into space again and again, carrying a variety of payloads and numerous crew members. The Space Shuttle Transportation System, or the Space Shuttle program as it is commonly known, is the most important earth - orbit space program ever undertaken by the United States.
The Space Shuttle describes the early developments in the Space Shuttle as well as the latest technology, components of the Shuttle vehicle and the history of the Shuttle program, including flight logs for all Shuttle flights through the tragic loss of the Orbiter Challenger on mission 51 - L in 1986, A mission profile outlines step by step the procedures for Shuttle launch and flight, and the extensive colour photographs highlight the achievements by man in his last frontier.
