During the 1960s, the Director of \u003cspan style=\"color: #2b00ff;\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSabena Airlines\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e, Gilbert Périer ( 1902 - 1968 ), wanted to link the company's image to a great Belgian painter. Contact was made with René Magritte in December 1965, in order to commission a work from him. This was delivered three months later. The image of \u003cem\u003eL'oiseau de ciel\u003c\/em\u003e was used for all adjoining advertising : posters, labels, leaflets, etc... until 1973. The said year was the 50th Anniversary of \u003cspan style=\"color: #2b00ff;\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSabena Airlines\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e, which chose new advertising symbols for the occasion.
