A lot of references had to be gathered, photographs and other documents have been gathered. Dealing with the Nakajima Ki-44 was an interesting journey through extremely short and specific part of the Japanese history. Without doubt, this journey would not be possible without the support of my friends and colleagues across the globe (Japan), Mitsuo Ashinuma (Japan), Takashi Sakurai (Japan), Joern Leckscheid (Germany), George Eleftheriou (Japan), CW Lam (Republic of China), Radek Lhotský, and Pavel Balous (Czech Republic).
If the current financial crisis allows me a moment's leisure while doing my regular job, I plan to sit down to another topic – an aircraft with the Rising Sun emblem on the wings – as soon as possible.

According to the number '10' on the undercarriage covers, this photo taken from contemporary press shows the tenth Ki-44 built. It was operated by the Dokuritsu 47th Chutai in Indo-China and Burma during the initial months of the war. The aircraft was probably flown by W.O. Tokutarō Takakura. Note the details of the main landing gear struts, attachment of the auxiliary fuel tanks, colour of the leading edge by the machine gun barrel and the small number '4' on the drop tank.

https://aviation.brussels/products/nakajima-ki-44-shoki-%e4%b8%ad%e5%b3%b6%e9%99%b8%e8%bb%8d2%e5%bc%8f%e5%8d%95%e5%ba%a7%e6%88%b0%e9%97%a2%e6%a9%9f-%e9%8d%be%e9%a6%97
