Its inverted gull wing and long-nose design caused visibility and landing issues. These were solved with the F4U-1A, raising the cockpit by 7 cm and replacing the framed canopy with a semi-bubble design. The F4U-1D introduced a full bubble canopy, taller tail wheel, and two underwing pylons for bombs, napalm, or rockets. Entering service in 1944, it became the first fully operational carrier-based Corsair. Squadrons VMF-124 and 213 used it from USS Essex in the Philippines, and it later attacked Japan. About 3,700 F4U-1Ds were built, valued for speed, firepower, and reliability.

More to read about the KIT here, thanks to scalemates, a Belgian Scale modeling database

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0270/3015/9446/files/IMG_5507_10bf3868-5ece-4e3c-a301-03e09c1d000d.JPG?v=1772887897
