A development of earlier Reggiane fighters, it featured powerful armament and a top speed of 678 km\/h. First flown in late 1942, it entered service in May 1943 with the Regia Aeronautica, defending Naples and Rome. Production was limited due to Allied bombing and Italy’s 1943 armistice. Of 750 ordered, only a few were built.
