First used during the North African campaign, it served across all Allied fronts. More than 5,500 civilian Cubs were also built during WWII. In Czechoslovakia, the L-4 flew as the C-4 in air force training and civil roles. The aircraft had a welded steel tube fuselage and wooden-ribbed wings, all fabric-covered, with a fixed wooden propeller.
