Although 2,000 horse power R-2800 Double Wasp turbine engine and exhaust made the aircraft necessarily large and heavy, this proved to be no barrier to the Thunderbolt. It was utilized not only as an escort for U.S. bombers but its bomb load capacity made it outstanding in the ground attack role. One of the most notable changes made to the Thunderbolt during the course of production was the alteration from a 360 degree canopy. This was achieved by removing the upper part of rear section of the previous type called Razor Back, and this change was so advantageous to the visibility afforded the pilot. Originally it was intended to introduce this improvement with a new designation P-47L, but in the event, decided to continue the P-47D series and the instructions were made with the P-47D-25 from Farmingdale and the P-47D-26 from Evansville. Nearly 12,602 D models were built. This was the largest total of any type of any fighter in history, and total production of the Thunderbolt amounting to 15,660. Even after World War II, the P-47 was popular with many air forces and served well into the 1950s.

More to read about the KIT here, thanks to scalemates, a Belgian Scale modeling database

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0270/3015/9446/files/IMG_4614_d132ef17-ef30-459a-91d1-f37f5ad2a96d.JPG?v=1771669290
https://aviation.brussels/products/maquette-a-monter-p-47d-nose-art-academy-n-2211-1-48-like-new-inside-unopened
