It is interesting to note that all these MiGs carry different camouflage schemes. The MT was built in the Moscow plant, unlike the MiG-21bis that was built in the Gorky plant from in 1971. It was derived from the fighter-bomber SMT version and differs from it in many ways. The main differences are the elongated spine, which housed additional fuel tanks, a 300 mm longer engine and a greater internal fuel load. The SPS-15 IFF antenna is located in the spine, giving this version its characteristic hunch back appearance. This had the impact by worsening the aircraft's flight characteristics.
