The Bf 109E ‘Emil’ featured the improved DB 601 engine, square wingtips, and upgraded armament. The E-3 carried two 7.92mm MGs in the nose and two 20mm cannons in the wings. The E-4 replaced the nose MGs with MG 151\/20 cannons.
