Serving in escort, marine, and sport aviation, it also flew in Poland’s first air mail service and was exported to several countries. By September 1939, around 150 remained in service, including 50 on the front lines in Kraków, Poznań, Pomorze, Karpaty, and Cracow units, performing risky battlefield observation and liaison missions. The R-XIII was a two-seat, single-engine high-wing parasol monoplane with a fuselage of duralumin and linen, wooden elliptical wings, double controls, and a double-wheel undercarriage with oil-pneumatic shocks.
