It was developed from the La-5 based on aerodynamic research conducted at the TsAGI institute. Improvements included better internal sealing, fully enclosed main landing gear bays, relocation of the oil cooler from beneath the engine to the fuselage under the cockpit, and moving the carburetor air intake to the wing roots. These changes significantly improved speed and climb performance. The La-7 entered production in May 1944. A version armed with three 20 mm Berezin B-20 cannons was planned, but only 368 were built due to development delays. By war’s end, 3,977 aircraft had been produced, with total production reaching 6,158 by late 1945.

More to read about the KIT here, thanks to scalemates, a Belgian Scale modeling database

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0270/3015/9446/files/IMG_3116_39da9458-0256-401f-b5ca-7ecc21a5d96b.JPG?v=1770462173
