By September 1937, their first engine—the He S1—ran on hydrogen, producing 250 kg of thrust despite lacking throttle control. Encouraged by this, von Ohain developed the gasoline-powered He S3b with throttle control. Heinkel also began designing an aircraft specifically for jet propulsion: the He 178 V1. It featured a metal monocoque fuselage, wooden wings, and retractable gear—though its gear remained fixed for tests. Taxi trials began on August 24, 1939, and on August 27, test pilot Erich Warsitz completed the first true jet flight from Marienehe. The He 178 V1 made about twelve flights before being sent to the Berlin Air Museum, where it was destroyed in a 1943 bombing raid alongside the He 176.

More to read about the KIT here, thanks to scalemates, a Belgian Scale modeling database

https://aviation.brussels/products/maquette-a-monter-heinkel-he-178-v1-condor-mpm-n-c48002-1-48-like-new-inside-unopened
