After early piston and jet aircraft such as the J 21 and J 29 Tunnan, the need for an all-weather interceptor with strong strike capability led to the Saab J 35 Draken. Designed to operate from short road bases with rapid turnaround, the Draken used an innovative double-delta wing developed under Erik Bratt, proven by the Saab 210 test aircraft. The first prototype flew in 1955, breaking the sound barrier with afterburner. Entering service in 1960, the Draken evolved through many versions, gaining more powerful engines, radar, missiles, and strike capability, reaching speeds above Mach 1.8. Widely exported, it served Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Austria, remaining operational until 1998.

More to read about the KIT here, thanks to scalemates, a Belgian Scale modeling database

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0270/3015/9446/files/IMG_2093_3f04254c-355e-4112-9d55-3672fe5fb62d.JPG?v=1769250754
