Some G-6s were fitted with 20mm gun pods under the wings or a 30mm MK 108 cannon instead of the MG 151\/20. The G-6 could also carry a 300 liter drop tank. The G-6 was produced in several factories, one of them being Erla Maschinenwerk GmbH in Leipzig. Erla produced Bf 109Gs from the autumn of 1942 to early 1945. Erla-built aircraft can be recognized by some typical features, such as rounded wingtips and simplified supercharger intake.
