Description
This book is a complete record of every aircraft type used by the R.A.A.F. from its formation in 1921 until the present day, and as such will be found not only and indispensable reference work for young and old, but also a volume of unique and lasting historical significance. Produced with the full co - operation of the Royal Australian Air Force, this book contains over three hundred superb photographs and illustrations from the best of R.A.A.F. and private sources, the vast majority of which have never been seen in print before.
Geoffrey Pentland, an Australian aviation artist and publisher, is a former schoolteacher who put down chalk to take up paintbrush and drawings instruments. He is also the author of a number of books on aircraft, such as Wirraway and Boomerang Markings ( 1976 ), R.A.A.F. Camouflage & Markings, 1939 - 45 ( 1980 ) and Australian Fighter Aces in the Middle East : A Pictorial Combat Diary ( with Russell Guest, 1999 ).
From an early age Peter Malone's leanings towards aviation led him from a keen interest in model making to later become an aeronautical engineer by profession. He is well - known as a keen sportsman and qualified pilot as well.
