FIGHTER ! The Story of Air Combat 1936 – 1945
Robert Jackson ( December 29th, 1941 ) was born in Melsonby ( North Yorkshire, England ). He was educated at Richmond School ( Yorkshire, England ).
He then served in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve ( R.A.F.V.R. ) as a pilot and navigation instructor, and held the rank of Squadron Leader. Following his retirement from the R.A.F.V.R. in 1977, he became a full - time aviation writer and aerospace correspondent and lectured extensively on strategic issues, and was the Defense Correspondent for North of England Newspapers.
He speaks five languages, including Russian. As an expert in military history, Robert Jackson is the author of more than 60 books on aviation and military subjects, including operational histories on famous aircraft.
His works include the following titles : Dunkirk : The British Evacuation, 1940 ( 1976 ), Squadron Scramble ( 1979 ), Mosquito Squadron ( 1982 ), Introduction to International Relations : Theories and Approaches ( with Georg Sørensen, 1999 ), The Encyclopedia of Military Aircraft ( 2002 ), The Romanov Mission ( 2016 ).
